How do we select content?

There’s a huge amount of point-of-care ultrasound content that exists across the internet which cover the whole range of PoCUS practice. Some is produced by manufacturers and a lot produced by individual clinicians. In selecting content to include we apply the following principles

Educational value

First and foremost, any content must have educational value. Brief video clips without any explanation are usually excluded. Often such clips are hosted on video sharing sites but with the educational component on a web page where the video clip is embedded.  Where this is the case, we will link to the web page but not directly to the video clip.

Content from multiple sources

Some content is published in more than one place, often when a web page uses YouTube to host videos. Where this is the case, we will link to the web-page rather than directly to the video as the source page may contain additional context or other educational value.

Language

Currently we are only including content in English. The content needs to be categorised and tagged and we currently are only able to do so in English.

Manufacturer produced content

Some manufacturers produce a significant amount of PoCUS content. There is a balance between the educational value of the content and its commercial aims. Where such content is describing specific features of a device, or is targeted more towards the commercial aims of the company, the content will not be included.

Veterinary content

Currently we are only including content for the use of PoCUS in humans. We are keeping track of the all the veterinary PoCUS content we find and may add this in future.
